This item is a curiosity. The stamp that appears on the bottom of this locomotive was used in early 1955 and has served as an identifier of the first products made after Gilbert resumed HO production after a Korean War hiatus. The 31005 was not cataloged or manufactured until 1957, which makes the appearance of this stamp on the bottom unusual. This stamp design was also used with black ink on the underside of the 701 Passenger and Wayside Station. |
