The following list is based on information from the IBM number list
that was maintained by Maury Romer, Gilbert's Chief of Production, augmented
by information obtained from other sources. The Romer list
covers sets that were assigned 5 digit
inventory numbers in the 30000 series which covered the Gilbert HO line.
5 digit numbering of stock items began in 1957 and continued through the end
of production, with a few exceptions in both the HO and S gauge lines.
Items on Romer's IBM number list marked as cancelled have not been included. A reprint of this list is available at
olsonhobbies.com
and is a valuable resource for any Gilbert HO collector. Some of the listed sets may have not have been produced even though they were not marked as cancelled. Links to photos or further information are provided for sets whenever that is available. I have been unable to find any documentation of earlier uncataloged sets from the Pre-War, Early Post War, and 3 digit eras.
